The Rescue 22 Foundation provides high quality, fully trained service K9s to veterans of our United States Armed Forces and in some cases with those currently serving.
With every veteran that receives a match, we also give a brand new start to a K9 in need. R22’s continues to build the bond between veteran and K9 and offers social and emotional support through networking and training that continues beyond the initial match. R22 vets and K9s are set up for success with equipment and onsite, in home integration.
A dog trained for service through R22 will meet the specific needs of the veteran from selection to integration.
Tasks performed can include, among other things, pulling a wheelchair, retrieving dropped items, alerting a person to a sound, reminding a person to take medication, or pressing an elevator button.
A service animal means any dog that is individually trained to do work or perform tasks for the benefit of an individual with a disability, including a physical, sensory, psychiatric, intellectual, or other mental disability.
